Speech Therapy Doncaster East
Your child may be eligible for funding & rebates for speech pathology assessment and therapy
When seeking children’s speech therapy it is important to be aware that your child may be eligible for Medicare rebates for speech pathology assessment and therapy. Focus on Speech is a registered Medicare Australia Provider allowing eligible clients to make claims for services through Medicare. If your child is eligible, they must have a referral plan from the GP or paediatrician. The following plans can be used to obtain a rebate from Medicare:
The CDM plan is instigated by your GP and available to those with Chronic Care needs. The plan provides a Medicare rebate for five sessions with an allied health professional per calendar year. It is important to note that only individual sessions can be claimed through a CDM plan. Please speak to your therapist or GP to see if your child is eligible for a CDM plan. You can contact our speech pathologist in Doncaster East here.
The Medicare rebates available through the Helping Children with Autism program are early intervention services for children undergoing diagnosis/assessment or treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorder or any other Pervasive Developmental Disorder.
Referrals are made by the child’s paediatrician. Paediatricians can allocate up to four assessment sessions, which can be used for a child under the age of 13. For children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, a total of 20 therapy sessions can be allocated which your child can use up until the age of 15. For more information on speech therapy for Autism Spectrum Disorder contact us today.
We offer individual and group sessions within our clinic. School, kindergarten and home visits are also available. Treatment is individualised for each child’s needs and the speech pathologist works with the family to offer a family centered approach to children’s speech therapy.

Focus on Speech is a registered consortium member and currently provide services to those who have a HCWA package.
