Therapy Plan

Upon completion of the assessment a children’s speech therapy plan will be devised based on the individual needs of your child. A report will be provided on request.

Current Social Skills Group Sessions:

Upper-Primary Early Secondary Aged

Expressions of interest are now being accepted to participate in our social skills groups for those nearing the end of primary school or have entered secondary school. These groups are suitable for students aged between 9 and 13 years old and have social challenges or a diagnosis of High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Lego Group

Expressions of interest are now being accepted to participate in our LEGO social skills groups. These groups are suitable for children aged between 6 and 9 years old who have social challenges or a diagnosis of High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Cooking/Science Group

Expressions of interest are now being accepted to participate in our cooking/science social skills groups. These groups are suitable for children aged between 6 and 10 years old who have social challenges or a diagnosis of High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Therapy and Screening

  • Individual Therapy

    Individual therapy sessions are generally offered on a weekly or fortnightly basis at our speech pathology clinic in Doncaster East. Goals are formulated with the child’s caregiver and are based on outcomes from observations, parent interviews and assessment. The child’s caregiver and therapist will also work together on planning home practice speech therapy activities.

  • Mobile Sessions

    Speech pathology assessment and children’s speech therapy sessions are also offered within the home, school, kindergarten and childcare environments. Mobile sessions are subject to availability.

  • Kindergarten Screenings

    Focus on Speech offers screenings at their speech pathology clinic in Doncaster East and also at kindergartens on request. Children’s language, speech and phonological awareness abilities are screened and a report with recommendations is provided. Please contact Amanda if you would like to arrange screenings at your kindergarten or childcare centre.

Group Sessions

Focus on Speech offers social skills programs during the school term and on the school holidays. Please speak to Amanda about current group dates and times.

  • The program is designed to target the following life skills:

    • Understanding emotions
    • Reading social cues
    • Conversation
    • Understanding money and budgeting
    • Travel training
    • Generalising social skills outside the clinical environment.
